Liverpool boss Arne Slot has backed Florian Wirtz to continue finding the back of the net after the midfielder finally scored his first goal for the club in Saturday's 2-1 Premier League win over Wolverhampton Wanderers.
Arne Slot's team come into the back of this game, having beaten Brighton and Tottenham in their last two games, and a feeling that they might have breathed some life back into what had been a wretched season until then.
Dominik Szoboszlai will not play for Liverpool today in the match against Wolves. The Hungarian midfielder is not injured, but he is suspended, which rules him out for today's game. In his place, Federico Chiesa will start his first Premier League game at Anfield.
But Wolves pulled a goal back a few minutes into the second half, which made the remainder of the game more nervy than it should have been. Substitute Conor Bradley made a superb block in the closing stages to prevent a Jhon Arias equaliser as Slot’s team continue to look susceptible at the back. Gregg Evans and James Pearce dissect the game.
Wolves are also statistically the worst team this season in Europe's top 14 leagues. You have to look at the Cypriot top division, 15th in Uefa's rankings, to find a club with fewer points – Enosis Neon Paralimni have one from 15 matches.
